4억 ₱가 넘는 대규모 사기 혐의로 한국에서 수배 중이던 한국인이 금요일 아침 파세이시 이민국 요원들에 의해 체포되었습니다.
이번 체포는 국경 통제를 강화하고 초국가 범죄에 대한 법 집행 공조를 강화하라는 페르디난드 R. 마르코스 주니어 대통령의 지시에 따른 것입니다. 필리핀 행정부는 필리핀이 탈주범이나 범죄 요소의 피난처가 되지 않을 것이라고 거듭 강조해 왔습니다.
남성진(53세)으로 확인된 도망자는 대한민국 대검찰청 및 필리핀 공군과의 긴밀한 공조 끝에 오전 8시경 BI의 도망자 수색대(FSU)에 의해 구금되었습니다.
남 씨는 2024년 대한민국 창원지방법원 밀양지원에서 사기죄를 규정한 형법 제347조 제1항을 위반한 혐의로 발부한 구속영장의 대상자입니다.
조엘 앤서니 비아도 이민청장은 "필리핀을 안전한 피난처로 사용하려는 외국인 도망자들이 발견되어 추방될 것"이라고 말했습니다.
"마르코스 대통령의 바공 필리피나스 비전 아래, 우리는 국가 안보를 보장하고 정의를 지키기 위해 시스템을 강화하고 있습니다."라고 그는 덧붙였습니다.
한국 당국의 공식 보고서에 따르면 남 씨는 한국과 필리핀에서 사업을 운영하는 합법적인 사업가로 위장한 것으로 밝혀졌습니다.
이러한 속임수를 바탕으로 한 피해자는 2022년에 4억 ₱ 이상을 자신의 은행 계좌로 금융 투자금으로 이체한 것으로 알려졌습니다. 용의자는 이 자금을 개인 부채를 투자하는 대신 갚는 데 사용한 것으로 추정됩니다.

A Korean national wanted in South Korea for large-scale fraud amounting to over ₱400 million was arrested Friday morning by agents of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) in Pasay City.

The arrest is in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to tighten border controls and bolster the country’s law enforcement coordination against transnational crime. The administration has repeatedly emphasized that the Philippines will not be a refuge for fugitives or criminal elements.

The fugitive, identified as Nam Sungjin, 53, was taken into custody by the BI’s Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) at around 8:00 a.m. following close coordination with the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office of the Republic of Korea and the Philippine Air Force.

Nam is the subject of an arrest warrant issued by the Changwon District Court, Miryang Branch in South Korea in 2024 for violating Article 347-(1) of the Korean Criminal Act, which covers fraud.

“Foreign fugitives attempting to use the Philippines as a safe haven will be located and deported,” said Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado.

“Under President Marcos’ Bagong Pilipinas vision, we are strengthening our systems to ensure national security and uphold justice,” he added.

An official report from Korean authorities stated that Nam allegedly posed as a legitimate businessman operating enterprises in both Korea and the Philippines.

Based on this deception, a victim reportedly transferred more than ₱400 million to his bank account in 2022 as a financial investment. The suspect allegedly used the funds to pay off personal debts instead of investing them.

The BI said Nam will be committed to the Bureau’s Warden Facility in Taguig City following standard booking and documentation procedures. Deportation proceedings will follow. #
