니노이 아키노 국제공항(NAIA)의 이민국(BI) 요원들이 현지 당국이 오랫동안 수배해 온 한국인, 40세의 유훈이 지난해 12월 18일 서울행 아시아나항공 항공편을 통해 출국하려다 체포됐다고 밝혔습니다.
BI-BCIU는 유 씨가 2017년 10월 BI가 내린 경보 목록 명령의 대상이라는 사실이 확인된 후 체포되었다고 밝혔습니다. 이 명령은 유 씨가 출국 항구에서 발견될 경우 법 집행 당국에 넘기도록 지시합니다.

기록에 따르면 유 씨와 그의 공동 피고인은 2012년 12월 14일 검찰이 제기한 중대한 위협에 대한 고소장을 바탕으로 파식시 지방재판소에서 발부한 체포 영장의 대상자입니다.
유 씨는 월요일 공항에서 체포될때까지 11년 동안 지방 당국의 체포를 피할 수 있었습니다.


Bureau of Immigration (BI) agents at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) intercepted a South Korean fugitive long wanted by local authorities to stand trial before a court in Pasig City for the crime of grave threat.

In a report to Immigration Commissioner Norman Tangsingco, the BI’s border control and intelligence unit (BCIU) said 40-year-old Yoo Hoon was intercepted last Dec. 18 when he attempted to leave via an Asiana Airlines flight to Seoul.

The BI-BCIU said Yoo was arrested after it was confirmed that he is the subject of an alert list order issued by the BI in October 2017 which directs the bureau to turn over Yoo to law enforcement authorities if he is encountered in any of the country’s ports of exit.

“We immediately turned him over to the NBI (National Bureau of Investigation) in compliance with said alert order and pursuant to an arrest warrant that was issued against him by a local court,” BI-BCIU deputy chief for operations Joseph Cueto said.

Records showed Yoo and his co-accused are subjects of an arrest warrant issued by the Pasig City Regional Trial Court on Dec. 14, 2012 based on a complaint for grave threats that were filed against them by prosecutors.

It was gathered Yoo managed to elude arrest of local authorities for 11 years until he was intercepted at the airport on Monday.

In a statement, Tansingco said the Korean’s arrest should serve as a reminder to other foreigners who are wanted here that they cannot forever evade arrest and prosecution for whatever crimes they committed in their host country.           “Eventually, the long arm of the law will catch you and your will be made to answer for your transgressions of the laws of our country,” the BI chief added.
