출입국관리국(BI)은 서울과 인터폴 당국이 마약 밀매 혐의로 수배한 한국인 남성이 체포되었다고 보고했습니다.
조엘 앤서니 비아도 이민청장은 체포된 도망자를 맹주환(29세)으로 확인했으며, 맹주환은 지난 5월 3일 마카티시 벨에어의 주피터 스트리트에서 BI의 도망자 수색대(FSU) 요원들에 의해 체포되었습니다.
렌델 라이언 시 BI-FSU 소장은 주환이 지난 2월 13일에 발행된 인터폴 적색수배 통지서의 대상이라고 밝혔으며, 이 통지서는 2023년 10월 25일 춘천지방법원에서 한국의 마약 단속법 위반 혐의로 체포 영장이 발부되었음을 나타냅니다.
주환은 한국에서 흔히 남용되는 불법 물질로 표시된 필로폰의 잔류물인 필로폰의 밀수를 주도한 혐의를 받고 있습니다. 공범이 소지한 간식 가방에 숨겨둔 밀수품은 2023년 9월 두 차례에 걸쳐 국제공항을 통해 운송된 것으로 알려졌습니다. 맹주환의 여행 기록을 확인한 결과, 그는 거의 2년 동안 또는 2023년 8월 23일 이후로 국내에 과도하게 체류한 것으로 나타났습니다.



The Bureau of Immigration (BI) reported the arrest of a South Korean man wanted by authorities in Seoul and the Interpol for narcotics trafficking.

Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado identified the captured fugitive as Maeng Juhwan, 29, who was arrested last May 3 along Jupiter Street, Bel Air, Makati City by operatives from the BI’s fugitive search unit (FSU).

“We will deport him because he is an undesirable and overstaying alien whose presence here poses a risk to public safety and security,” Viado said.

He added that Juhwan will be sent back to Korea as soon as the BI board of commissioners has issued the order for his summary deportation.

“He will then be blacklisted and perpetually banned from re-entering the country, the BI chief said.

Rendel Ryan Sy, BI-FSU chief, disclosed that Juhwan is also a subject of an Interpol red notice issued last Feb. 13 which indicated that an arrest warrant was issued by the Chuncheon district court on Oct. 25, 2023 for violating Korea’s narcotics control act.

Juhwan allegedly orchestrated the smuggling of Philopon, a residue of methamphetamine tagged as a commonly abused illegal substance in Korea.

The contraband concealed in a snack bag carried by his accomplice was reportedly transported via international airports two different occasions in September 2023.

A check of Juhwan’s travel records showed that he had been overstaying in the country for almost two years or since August 23, 2023.
