지난 3일 퀸즈 베이사이드 111경찰서 관할구역에서 발생한 주택 침입 강도사건의 한인 용의자가 체포됐다.
뉴욕시경(NYPD)에 따르면, 사건 당일 오전 10시 52분경 한 남성이 퀸즈 231스트리트와 64애비뉴 인근의 한 주택 문을 두드린 후 92세 여성 피해자가 나오자 대화를 나누다가 그를 밀어 넘어뜨렸다. 이후 주택에 침입한 용의자는 칼을 꺼내 피해자를 위협한 뒤 신용카드와 현금 100달러가 들어 있는 지갑을 훔쳐갔다.
4일 경찰은 용의자의 사진을 공개하고 수배에 나섰고, 8일 오후 1시 25분 111경찰서 관할구역에서 체포됐다고 밝혔다. 사건 당시 검정 패딩과 티셔츠를 입고 있던 용의자는, 퀸즈에 거주 중인 24세 한인 남성 ‘레오 현’인 것으로 알려졌다. 해당 남성은 ▶강도 ▶빈집털이 ▶불법 구금 혐의로 기소됐다.



Leo Hyun, 24, of 233rd Street near Alley Pond Park was taken into custody on Monday and charged with robbery, burglary and unlawful imprisonment for going to his neighbor’s home at 231 Street and 64th Avenue on the morning of Wednesday, Jan. 3 and knocking on the front door.

The victim answered the door and Hyun allegedly engaged her in conversation before pushing the senior into the residence causing her to fall and strike her head, police said. Hyun then barged into the home and allegedly pulled out a knife and forcibly removed the victim’s wallet containing her credit cards and $100 in cash before running off northbound on 231st Street toward the Long Island Expressway.
