메리든에 거주하는 한인 남성 병 김(30세)씨가 총기를 휘두른 무장 은행 강도 용의자로 체포됐다.
워터타운 경찰에 따르면 김 씨는 지난16일 오전 9시30분께 웹스터 뱅크(544 Straits Turnpike)에 총기를 가지고 난입한 후 고객을 인질로 잡고 위협하며 은행 직원에게 현찰을 요구했고 돈을 받자마자 SUV를 타고 도주한 혐의를 받고 있다.
경찰은 범행이 일어난 후 6일 만인 지난 22일 메리든에 있는 김씨 자택을 수색해 이 사건 범행자가 범행 당시 착용했던 검정색 복장과 일치하는 옷과 가짜 총을 발견한 후 김 씨를 체포했다.

경찰에 따르면 김씨는 메리든에서 은행 강도행각을 벌인 전과 경력이 있다. 김 씨는 현재 1급 강도, 1급 납치, 1급 협박 등 중범 혐의로 20만 달러의 보석금이 책정된 채 구속 기소됐다.



A Meriden man suspected of robbing a Watertown bank at gunpoint earlier this month has been arrested and police said he has a history of bank robberies in Meriden.

Pyong Kim, 30, of Meriden, is suspected of robbing the Webster Bank at 544 Straits Turnpike around 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 16.

Police said he pointed a handgun at a customer and tellers and demanded cash.

Then he fled in a large SUV, traveling west on Straits Turnpike toward Middlebury Road, and threw two red dye packs from the vehicle, which exploded in the street, according to police.

As police worked to identify a suspect, the Bankers Reward Association offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in this case.

Detectives searched Kim's home on Monday and said they found clothing that matched what the robber was wearing at the time of the robbery, as well as a fake gun.
