A man searching for his lost German shepherd discovered the dog was being sold on Facebook, allegedly by two individuals using an alias, according to a magistrate's complaint.

Officers of the Guam Police Department received a call from a man who said his dog was being sold by someone with the Facebook user name "Sonya Takai."

The owner had been missing his German shepherd for nearly two weeks and recognized the dog's color pattern, spots and a distinguishing feature in which one of its ears is not fully developed, court documents state.

The man soon made arrangements with "Takai" to meet at the Agana Shopping Center so he could look at the dog, as if he were considering purchasing it.

While at the shopping center, a woman driving a Toyota Prerunner arrived with the German shepherd. A man was also in the back of the truck.

Suspects attempt escape

Police began approaching the vehicle, alarming the couple, who attempted to escape. However, officers were able to block the vehicle, court documents state.

The vehicle's driver was identified as Ah Rum Rose Kim. The man in the back of the truck with the dog was identified as Stephen Minsun Kim, according to court documents.

The dog appeared responsive and affectionate to its owner, heeding his commands and exhibiting a bond of familiarity between the two, according to court documents.

In an interview with police, both suspects gave largely conflicting details on how they came into possession of the dog, according to court documents.

The woman alleged that she recently bought the German shepherd for $300 using Craigslist.

The male suspect told police that the dog arrived at his home at some point and he began feeding it, later deciding to sell it.

The suspects were subsequently arrested and charged with theft as a misdemeanor.
