미주 지역에서 활동해 온 유명 한인 포커 선수가 성폭행 혐의로 체포됐다. 캐나다 토론토 경찰국은 한 주택에 대해 수색 영장을 집행해 다니엘 권(39)씨를 체포했다고 20일 밝혔다. 권씨는 프로 포커 선수로, 지난 2024년 허슬러 카지노에서 열린 토너먼트에도 출전한 바 있다.
권씨는 지난 15일 토론토 지역에서 열린 한 행사에서 여성을 성폭행한 혐의를 받고 있다. 경찰은 권씨가 감금, 성폭행, 마약 소지 및 판매 목적, 범죄 수익금 소지 등의 혐의를 받고 있다고 밝혔다. 경찰은 추가 피해자가 있을 가능성도 있다고 전했다.

Toronto police have arrested a professional poker player accused of sexual assault.

Police allege 39-year-old Daniel Kwon of Toronto sexually assaulted a victim after meeting them at an event he hosted on Thursday, Jan. 15 in the Wellington Street West and Simcoe Street area.

He was arrested on Monday, Jan. 19 after police executed a search warrant at a residence in Toronto.

Kwon has been charged with forcible confinement, sexual assault, sexual assault with choking, three counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of a crime over $5,000.

He was scheduled to appear in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre on Monday.
