페이엣빌, 노스캐롤라이나 (WNCN) – 컴벌랜드와 웨이크 카운티에서 운영 중인 한국 도박 조직과 관련이 있다고 당국이 밝힌 후 네 명 중 세 명이 체포되었다고 컴벌랜드 카운티 보안관실이 금요일 발표했습니다.
보안관실과 미국 국토안보부는 한국 도박 조직에 대한 범죄 수사를 위해 수개월 동안 협력해 왔다고 관계자들은 말했습니다. 이 수사로 인해 현재 이 조직에 연루된 것으로 추정되는 사람들에 대한 수색 영장이 집행되고 체포 영장이 발부되었습니다.
수사관들은 10만 달러 이상의 통화, 35대의 스탠드업 도박기, 여러 자루의 총기, 그리고 오피오이드 밀매액을 압수했습니다.
당국은 또한 플레이어가 미리 정해진 현금 가치로 애니메이션 물고기를 쏘는 "물고기 게임"으로 알려진 게임을 압수했습니다.
이 "물고기 게임"들은 노스캐롤라이나에서 처음으로 압수되었다고 관계자는 말했습니다.
당국에 따르면 이 단체는 컴벌랜드 카운티의 영 록 리가 이끌고 있습니다. 당국은 이 단체를 플러싱, 뉴욕, 어빙, 텍사스, 로스앤젤레스의 다른 도박 조직과 연결시켰습니다.

Three of four people have been arrested after officials said they were connected to a Korean gambling ring being operated in Cumberland and Wake counties, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday.

The sheriff’s office and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security have spent months working together on a criminal investigation into a Korean gambling ring, officials said. That investigation has now resulted in the execution of search warrants and the issuance of arrest warrants for those believed to be involved in the ring.

Investigators seized more than $100,000 in currency, 35 stand up type gambling machines, several guns and a trafficking amount of opioids.

Authorities also seized a game known as “the fish game” where players shoot animated fish with predetermined cash value.

These “fish games” are the first to be seized in North Carolina, official said.

According to authorities, the group is led by Gyoung Lok Lee in Cumberland County. Officials have linked the organization to other gambling operations in Flushing, New York, Irving, Texas, and Los Angeles.



Lee was one of three arrested Friday.

Lee, of Fayetteville was charged with continuing criminal enterprise, two counts of operating five or more video poker machines and felony conspiracy.
