호찌민 경찰은 200명의 여성 직원을 고용하여 외국인들에게 성매매를 알선한 한국인 남성을 체포했다.
황창남(43) 씨와 베트남인 매니저 4명이 1군 응웬 타이 빈 거리에 있는 조이 레스토랑에서 성매매를 알선한 혐의로 기소됐다.
이번 체포는 경찰이 성매매 의심 징후를 포착해 해당 식당을 한동안 감시한 뒤 이뤄졌다. 식당에는 법적으로 등록되지 않은 노래방 30개가 있었으며, 주로 여성 직원이 일을 하고 있었다.
12월 30일 밤, 경찰은 노래방에서 많은 한국인 손님을 발견했다.
이와 함께 1군의 아코야 호텔과 7군의 선라이즈 시티뷰 건물의 아파트를 조사한 결과, 조이 레스토랑의 여성 직원 3명이 고객에게 성매매를 하는 현장을 적발했다. 황창남 씨와 베트남인 매니저 4명은 경찰 조사 사실을 알게된 직후, 호찌민 인근 지역으로 도주했지만 경찰의 추적을 피하지 못했다.
식당에서 압수한 서류와 매니저들의 진술을 토대로, 여성 종업원 200여 명을 동원해 한국 손님들에게 성접대를 하도록 지시한 황 씨의 범행 사실이 드러났다.
수사기관은 식당 주인과 공범들이 성매매 알선을 통해 200억 동(약 82만 달러) 이상의 이익을 챙긴 것으로 판단했다. 경찰이 이에 대한 수사를 확대하고 있다.

Having worked as a senior manager for several entertainment venues for foreigners in Ho Chi Minh City, T. revealed that the foreign owners and general managers of these establishments are often well-connected and have business relationships with their fellow countrymen. At the same time, Vietnamese managers often connect with tour guides and some travel agencies to find customers.

The owners of the establishments often instruct the general managers and Vietnamese managers not to receive Vietnamese guests, unless they are familiar guests or have been introduced. The owners are very sophisticated, directing work through senior managers to arrange for female attendants to receive guests.
