뉴저지주 포트리 경찰국에 따르면 버겐카운티에 거주하는 이모(46)씨는 아동의 복지를 위험에 빠뜨린 혐의로 체포돼 버겐카운티 구치소에 수감됐다.

경찰은 지난달 25일 오후 9시5분께 포트리 센터 애비뉴 2180번지 건물 뒤편 주차장에서 한 여성이 어린이와 함께 차량에 탄 채 운전석에서 잠들어 있다는 익명의 신고를 받고 출동했다.현장에 도착한 경찰은 차량 운전석 문이 열린 상태에서 시동은 꺼져 있었으며, 이씨가 운전석에서 잠들어 있고 6세 어린이가 뒷좌석에 있는 것을 발견했다.

경찰관들은 이씨를 깨우기 위해 여러 차례 시도했으며, 잠에서 깨어난 이씨에게서 술에 취한 것으로 보이는 정황이 확인됐다고 경찰은 밝혔다.

차량 내부에서는 개봉된 주류 용기들도 발견됐다. 경찰은 당시 이씨와 어린이를 가족의 지인에게 인계해 그날 밤 돌보도록 했으며, 뉴저지주 아동보호·영구배치국에도 사건을 통보했다.

경찰은 이튿날 추가 수사를 벌인 결과 어린이가 이씨와 함께 주차된 차량에 약 50분 동안 있었던 것으로 파악했다.

특히 이 시간 동안 이씨가 차량 안에서 잠들어 있는 사이 어린이가 혼자 차량에서 내려 보호자 없이 주차장을 돌아다녔던 것으로 조사됐다.

피해자 아이리스 김씨는 최근 LA 퍼블릭 프레스와의 인터뷰에서, 학교의 미흡한 대응과 한인 교수의 부적절한 행위를 상세히 설명하며, 당시 상황의 구체적 정황과 자신의 경험을 털어놓았다. 2017년부터 2019년까지 2년 동안, 김씨는 박모 교수의 조교로 근무하며 지속적으로 성추행과 성폭행을 당했다고 주장했다. 김씨는 다섯 차례 성폭행과 성추행을 당했으며, 박 교수는 자신을 강제로 껴안거나 입을 맞추며 “너만 보면 참을 수 없다”고 말한 적도 있다고 밝혔다.

2020년 가을, 김씨는 USC 내부에서 차별 및 성희롱 사건을 다루는 ‘타이틀 9’ 담당처에 정식으로 문제를 제기했지만, 몇 달 동안 조사는 진척되지 않았다. ‘타이틀 9’은 교육기관에서 성 관련 차별을 금지하는 연방법이다. 이에 답답함을 느낀 김씨는 2021년 4월, 박 교수와 USC를 상대로 13개 항목에 걸친 민사소송을 제기했다. 법정 증거개시 과정에서 공개된 이메일에 따르면, 당시 USC 마셜경영대 학장과 타이틀 9 관계자들은 박 교수의 조기 은퇴 시 조사를 중단하는 방안을 논의한 정황이 드러났다.

김씨가 소송을 제기하자 학교 측은 입장을 바꿨다. 2021년 5월 박 교수는 “은퇴 여부와 관계없이 조사가 중단되지 않을 것”이라는 통보를 받았다고 이메일에 적었다. USC 변호인단은 해당 이메일이 포함된 법정 문서를 비공개로 봉인하려 했지만, 법원은 이를 기각했다. 이후 USC는 김씨 소송 내용을 비밀로 유지하려 했으며, 2025년 8월에는 법원에 ‘모든 기밀 문서를 파기해 달라’는 삭제 명령을 제출했다.

소송 1년 후 김씨는 절차에 대한 신뢰 부족으로 타이틀 9 사건 참여를 거부하며 사건은 종결됐다. 이후 2023년 9월 민사소송 재판을 앞두고 USC는 비공개 합의금을 제시했고, 김씨는 변호사 권유에 따라 이를 수락했다. 김씨는 “정책 변화와 사과를 원했지만, 결국 돈으로 마무리됐다”고 밝히며, 합의금은 박 교수와 USC가 공동 지급했으나 액수는 비공개라고 전했다.

박 교수(현재 80세)는 지난 2021년 5월 건강상의 이유로 은퇴했다. 그는 서면 성명에서 “부적절하거나 비윤리적 행위는 없었다”고 주장하면서도, 타이틀 9 담당처가 조사를 서둘러 종결하려 한 사실은 인정했다. 박 교수는 25년간 재직 후 은퇴했고, 이 사건의 타이틀 9 조사 절차는 중단됐다.

한인 여대생을 성추행한 혐의로 피소됐던 전 USC 경영대 한인 교수에 대한 민사소송이 조건부 합의로 마무리됐다. 11일 LA 카운티 수피리어코트에서 열릴 예정이었던 재판에 앞서 양측 변호인들이 원고인 20대 한인 여성 김모씨와 피고인 70대 전 USC 교수 박모씨 사이에 조건부 합의가 이뤄졌다고 재판부에 통보함에 따라 판사는 재판을 취소했다.

양측의 합의 내용은 밝혀지지 않았으며, 원고측 변호사는 오는 11월 소송 철회 신청서를 제출할 예정이다. 

수사 당국은 피의자가 당시 교사로 재직하며 교회 커뮤니티에서도 활동했던 점을 들어 추가 피해자가 있을 가능성에 대해서도 수사를 확대하고 있다.

샌타크루즈 카운티 셰리프국에 따르면 왓슨빌의 몬테비스타 크리스천 스쿨 전 교사 이모(28)씨가 지난 14일 뉴욕주에서 체포됐다고 현지 매체 KSBW 뉴스가 19일 보도했다. 보도에 따르면 이씨는 지난 2022년 발생한 미성년자 성범죄 사건과 관련해 14~15세 아동을 대상으로 음란하거나 외설적인 행위를 한 혐의 등으로 샌타크루즈 카운티 구치소에 수감됐다. 샌타크루즈 카운티 셰리프국은 2022년에 발생한 것으로 알려진 사건에 대한 정보를 지난 4월 입수한 뒤 수사에 착수했으며, 수사 과정에서 이씨를 용의자로 특정했다. 이후 수사관들은 이씨가 뉴욕주에 있는 사실을 파악하고 지난 14일 뉴욕주 서폭 카운티로 직접 이동해 그를 체포했다. 이씨는 향후 캘리포니아로 이송돼 사법 절차를 밟게 될 예정이다.

A former Monte Vista Christian School teacher was arrested Aug. 14 on suspicion of committing a lewd or lascivious act on a child who is 14 or 15.

Jacob Lee, 28, is facing multiple charges, according to Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Ashley Keehn, deputies in April received a report about an incident involving Lee that allegedly occurred in 2022. Detectives identified Lee as the suspect, and on Aug. 14, detectives traveled to Suffolk County, New York, to arrest him.

“When someone entrusted with educating and mentoring young people is accused of committing crimes against them, it is an especially serious betrayal of that trust,” Sheriff Chris Clark said. “Let me be clear that there is no place to hide from accountability. Moving across the country does not make those allegations disappear.”

According to his LinkedIn page, Lee taught biology at Monte Vista Christian from August 2021 to February 2024. He received a degree in molecular biology from UC Santa Cruz in 2020.

It was unclear Wednesday whether the victim was a student at Monte Vista.

In a statement provided to The Pajaronian, Monte Vista Christian School officials said the school “is committed to the safety and care of its students.”

The statement says that all employees have been “vetted, trained and evaluated through thorough processes and policies, with the intention to create a safe and supportive school environment.”

“We see any unsafe action toward a member of our school community to be a serious betrayal of trust,” the statement reads.

“Student safety has always been and will remain an MVC priority.”

Clark said Lee will be extradited to Santa Cruz County.

“We will never stop pursuing those who prey on our children,” he said. “No matter where you go, we will find you.”

Because Lee was a teacher at the time of the alleged incident, detectives believe there could be other victims.

A formal complaint was sent to the Fayetteville Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division, identifying a suspect involved in a sexual assault investigation.

FPD received the complaint on February 18 which provided investigators with more information to launch an extensive investigation.

According to a release, Richard Lim was named as a suspect.

Interviews with the victim and Lim were included in FPD's examination. Detectives later determined probable cause and moved forward with criminal charges in the pursuit for Lim.

FPD detectives received an arrest warrant on two counts of Rape, one count of Sexual Assault in the Second Degree, and one count of Sexually Grooming a Child.

경찰에 따르면 송씨는 당시 밤 10시15분부터 지난 27일 오전 1시까지 오카야마시의 한 호텔에서 A씨에게 갑자기 입을 맞추는가 하면 A씨를 껴안거나 몸을 만지는 등 추행했다.

경찰은 지난 27일 A씨의 신고를 받고 CC(폐쇄회로)TV 영상을 조사하는 등 수사한 끝에 송씨의 혐의를 특정해 이날 체포했다.

송씨는 일본 오카야마시 기타구 쓰시마 쿄마치에 사는 대학 시간강사로, 한국에서는 대학 교수로 재직 중인 것으로 조사됐다.

송씨는 경찰 조사에서 "사실이 아니다. 동의가 있었다"며 혐의를 부인한 것으로 전해졌다.

동국대학교 학생들이 일본에서 강제추행 혐의로 체포됐던 교수가 학생들에게도 성희롱과 성추행을 일삼았다며, 학교 쪽에 해당 교수의 퇴출을 요청했다. 학교 쪽은 뒤늦게 해당 교수 일본 경찰 체포 여부를 포함한 사실 확인에 나섰다.

동국대 일본학과 학생회와 피해 학생들은 23일 ‘동국대학교 일본학과 에스(S)교수의 부적절한 언행 및 권력 남용에 대한 사실 공론화’라는 제목의 대자보를 내고 “학교 및 학과 차원에서 에스 교수의 즉각적인 교단 퇴출과 피해 학생들과의 신속한 분리를 포함해 강력하고 실질적인 조치를 요구한다”고 밝혔다.

해당 교수는 지난 1월 일본 오카야마의 한 숙박시설에서 한국 국적 피해자를 동의 없이 추행한 혐의로 일본 경찰에 체포된 바 있다. 다만 일본 검찰은 사건을 불기소 처분한 것으로 전해졌다.

大学で教授を務める韓国籍の男が岡山市内の宿泊施設で２０代の知人女性にわいせつな行為をしたとして１月２８日に逮捕されました。

不同意わいせつの疑いで逮捕されたのは、韓国籍の大学教授で岡山市北区津島京町に住むソン・ジョンヒョン容疑者（４４）です。

警察の調べによりますと、ソン容疑者は１月２６日午後１０時１５分から２７日午前１時ごろまでの間、岡山市内の宿泊施設で知人の２０代の女性に対しキスや体を触るなどのわいせつな行為をした疑いです。

警察は女性からの被害届を受け捜査し、ソン容疑者の犯行を特定したもので、警察の取り調べに対しソン容疑者は「事実ではない。同意があった。」と容疑を否認しているということです。

리틀페리 경찰국은 지난 3월 16일, 37세 한인 여성 하지은(Jieon Ha) 씨를 가중 폭행·강도·무단 침입·법원 명령 위반 혐의로 검거했다고 밝혔다.

경찰에 따르면 하 씨는 이날 전 시어머니가 거주하는 리틀페리 소재 아파트에 무단으로 침입했다. 침대에 누워 있던 피해자를 발견한 하 씨는 즉시 얼굴과 머리를 수차례 가격했으며, 헤어드라이어 전선으로 피해자의 목을 조르려 시도하는 등 극도로 잔인한 방식으로 폭행을 가했다. 이후 집 안에 보관돼 있던 보석류와 시가 5,000달러(약 650만 원) 상당의 금괴를 챙겨 현장을 빠져나간 것으로 알려졌다.

폭행으로 얼굴과 손, 목 등에 심각한 타박상을 입은 피해자는 사건 직후 인근 해켄색 대학병원(Hackensack University Medical Center) 외상센터로 긴급 이송돼 치료를 받았다. 현재 생명에는 지장이 없는 것으로 전해졌다.

경찰은 CCTV 분석과 탐문 수사를 통해 하 씨 행방을 추적해 같은 날 인근 리지필드(Ridgefield)에 있는 하 씨 자택에서 신병을 확보했다. 하 씨는 현재 버겐 카운티 당국에 의해 기소된 상태이며, 경찰은 정확한 범행 동기 및 추가 범죄 여부에 대한 조사를 계속하고 있다.

Officers responded to 291 Liberty St., Apt. 52 on Monday, March 16 for a reported assault and learned the victim had been attacked by her ex daughter-in-law, Jieon Ha, who fled the scene before police arrived, according to Little Ferry Police Chief James Walters.

The victim suffered severe bruising and swelling to her face, hands, and neck, along with bleeding from her mouth, and was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center’s trauma unit, Walters said.

The victim told officers she was lying in bed when Ha entered the room and began hitting her in the face and head, then grabbed her and attempted to strangle her with a hair dryer cord before taking jewelry and a gold bar valued at more than $5,000 and fleeing, police said.

Investigators later arrested Ha at her home in Ridgefield on the same day. She was charged with multiple offenses, including aggravated assault, robbery, burglary, and contempt of a court order, authorities said.

 An Iowa City man has been arrested after University of Iowa Police allege he had images and videos depicting child pornography on his devices.

Kanrry Kang, 23, is accused of five counts of purchase/possessing depictions of a minor in a sex act.

According to a criminal complaint from the University of Iowa Public Safety Department, there were alleged to be 50 images and 10 videos depicting minors on two devices and two Gmail accounts belonging to Kang. The complaint continues that some depicted toddlers, with others depicting bondage. Officials said the materials were in his possession between August on 2023 and November of 2025.

In 2024, the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office contacted Postal Inspectors to help investigate a Virginia man who was soliciting a Minnesota teen through social media and the mail.

Between November 2023 and February 2024, Raymond Jung Woo Choi, 42, of Centreville, VA, used social media to engage in sexual conversations with a 13–year-old girl. Using the alias “Jason Lee,” he convinced the girl to send explicit photos and videos to him. In return, he mailed gifts to the victim, including vaping devices, underwear, and other items.

After learning about the relationship, the girl’s family contacted the sheriff’s office. Choi, a TSA employee, traveled to Minnesota in February 2024 to meet the victim, but this meeting never took place due to law enforcement intervention.

During the investigation, Postal Inspectors learned the packages were mailed from a kiosk inside the Centreville Post Office, and they identified Raymond Jung Woo Choi as the sender. After obtaining a search warrant, law enforcement found a large number of illegal guns and over 700 images of child sexual abuse inside his home.

Choi was arrested on July 13, 2024, and he pleaded guilty to producing child pornography. He was sentenced to 192 months in prison followed by 20 years of supervised release.

Two men have been arrested in Isle of Wight County following two separate investigations involving the online distribution of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).

Officials with the Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office partnered with regional law enforcement agencies through the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children (SOVA ICAC) Task Force on both of these cases.

In Chun Kim, 36 was arrested on July 30. He is charged with 10 counts of Distribution of Child Pornography. Days later, investigators arrested 27-year-old Tyler Caruthers, of Newport News. He is also charged with 10 counts of Distribution of Child Pornography.

“Every image or video depicting the sexual abuse of a child represents a real victim who has suffered unimaginable harm” said Isle of Wight County Sheriff James R. Clark, Jr. “Our investigators remain steadfast in identifying those who possess or distribute this material and in working alongside our law enforcement partners to protect children and hold offenders accountable. These investigations demonstrate our unwavering commitment to pursuing offenders wherever they may be and ensuring they are brought before the courts.”

Both Kim and Caruthers are being held at Western Tidewater Regional Jail without bond.

A man is facing terroristic threats charges after authorities say he made numerous “alarming” threats of bombing and shooting, including toward Vernon Hills High School and a church in South Barrington.

Ryan Kang, 26, of Vernon Hills, was charged with two counts of terrorism by false threat, a Class 1 felony.

The Vernon Hills Police Department began an investigation into Kang after multiple people, including his own family, made reports to the police regarding threatening posts.

Vernon Hills Deputy Police Chief Shannon Holubetz said there was a series of concerning social media posts that were perceived as threatening certain institutions and people.

The threats included references to school shootings, bombings and acts of interpersonal violence.

The threats were made to Vernon Hills High School, Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington and multiple out-of-state residents, Holubetz said.

A South Korean fugitive wanted for narcotics offenses in his home country was arrested by operatives of the Bureau of Immigration’s (BI) Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) in a coordinated law enforcement operation at Clark Freeport, Pampanga on June 28. The operation forms part of the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to strengthen the country’s campaign against transnational crime and ensure that the Philippines does not serve as a sanctuary for foreign fugitives. It was conducted by the BI-FSU in coordination with the Philippine Air Force (PAF), the Clark Development Corporation Public Safety Division, and South Korean authorities. Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado identified the fugitive as Kim Soo, 41, who was apprehended at a resort following intelligence sharing between Philippine and South Korean authorities. According to BI Fugitive Search Unit Chief Rendel Ryan Sy, the operation stemmed from intelligence provided by the PAF, which led to the successful location and arrest of the foreign fugitive. Kim is wanted by the Cheongju District Court in South Korea for alleged violations of their country’s Narcotics Control Act. Authorities alleged that he operated a Telegram-based drug distribution scheme, advertising and selling illegal narcotics, including cocaine and hemp cartridges, while receiving payment through cryptocurrency. He is likewise the subject of an active Interpol Red Notice. Immigration records showed that Kim last entered the Philippines in April 2022 as a temporary visitor but failed to extend or regularize his stay, making him an overstaying alien. He had also previously been placed under the Bureau’s blacklist and watchlist as a fugitive from justice. “The success of this operation demonstrates the strength of intelligence sharing and operational cooperation among Philippine and international law enforcement agencies,” said Viado. “Foreign fugitives should understand that our borders will not shield them from accountability. Working hand in hand with our partners, we will continue to locate, arrest, and deport individuals who threaten public safety and attempt to use the Philippines as a hiding place.”

A씨는 초기 조사에서 관련 게시물을 올린 사실을 인정한 것으로 알려졌다. 다만 영상 촬영 및 게시 과정에서의 동의 여부나 금전적 대가 수수 여부 등은 추가 확인이 필요한 상황이다. 경찰은 그의 호텔 객실에서 필로폰 21.36g, 케타민 304.32g, 알약 형태 엑스터시 296정 등 여러 마약류를 발견해 증거물로 압수했다. 이에 따라 A씨에게는 태국 형법의 컴퓨터 시스템에 음란 정보를 입력한 혐의, 음란물 배포 혐의와 더불어 판매 목적으로 1·2급 마약을 소지한 혐의가 적용됐다.

South Korean adult video creator arrested over drug-fuelled romps in condo  Police in Pattaya, Thailand, raided the apartment of 30-year-old Louis Kim following allegations that he produced explicit videos while under the influence of narcotics. Law enforcement officers detained the suspect after discovering an adult video recorded with a Thai woman, which allegedly violates local laws banning pornography. A search of the property uncovered significant quantities of illicit substances, including more than 21 grams of crystal methamphetamine, more than 304 grams of ketamine, 296 ecstasy pills, and nine vape pods laced with Etomidate. The foreign national was charged with importing obscene computer data and distributing obscene materials, alongside severe drug distribution charges under the Narcotics Code. Police Lieutenant Colonel Ithithorn Prasertsak confirmed that the investigation is expanding to track down the supply chain of the seized narcotics and check for links to other transnational crime networks. Under the Criminal Code and Computer Crime Act of Thailand, individuals producing or distributing adult content can face maximum penalties of up to five years in prison and substantial fines.

Sung Jing Park, 65, is charged with felony operating greater than five gambling machines, misdemeanor manufacture/sell slot machines, and misdemeanor gambling.

On Thursday, Cumberland County deputies conducted a search warrant at 800 block of Castle Hayne Road and the 3100 block of Harmony Hall Way in Fayetteville. 

Deputies said they found multiple gambling machines and slot machines inside the locations. 

Park was taken into custody and received a $20,000 secured bond.

He is expected in court on Friday at 2:30 p.m.

검찰은 지난 5월 강씨를 자신이 개인 태권도 교습을 하던 미성년 여학생을 상대로 여러 건의 성범죄를 저지른 혐의로 기소했다.
예비심리에서는 리버힐스 경찰국의 숀 도먼 경관이 증인으로 출석해 수사 내용을 설명했다. 도먼 경관은 강씨가 2023년 6월 피해 학생의 개인 태권도 강사로 고용됐으며, 같은 시기 폭스포인트(Fox Point)에서 운영하던 태권도장을 폐업했다고 증언했다. 강씨는 2009년 무장 강도를 추격해 붙잡은 일로 지역 언론의 조명을 받은 바 있다.
경찰에 따르면 강씨는 피해 학생의 자택에서 개인교습을 진행했으며, 피해 학생은 성범죄가 수업을 시작한 직후부터 이뤄졌다고 진술했다. 도먼 경관은 법정에서 피해 학생의 진술을 토대로 “여름방학 기간 수개월 동안 주 3회 개인교습이 진행됐고, 수업 때마다 범행이 여러 차례 반복됐다”며 “이 같은 행위가 3년 동안 계속됐다”고 증언했다.
강씨는 보석금 3만 달러를 내고 석방된 상태이며, 다음 재판은 오는 7월 1일 열릴 예정이다.

A longtime martial arts instructor has been charged with sexually assaulting a child during private lessons over multiple summers in River Hills.

On May 26, Milwaukee County prosecutors charged Brookfield resident David Kang, 66, with three counts of repeated sexual assault of the same child and one count of second-degree sexual assault of a child under 16 years of age.

In total, the charges - all felonies - could amount to a maximum prison sentence of 180 years and a fine of up to $300,000.

The charge of repeated sexual assault of the same child, which includes a modifier for cases where at least 3 violations are present, comes with up to 60 years in prison. The other three counts each come with fines of up to $100,000 and a maximum of 40 years in prison.

According to the criminal complaint:

A River Hills police officer met with the child and the child's parents on May 19, 2026. The child told the officer that Kang had sexually assaulted them during private tae kwon do lessons multiple times a week at the child's home during the summers of 2023, 2024 and 2025.

The lessons and abuse occurred again on May 18, 2026. During the meeting with police the following day, the child told the officer that they "could not go through another summer of abuse."

While police were interviewing the child, Kang showed up at the family's home and shot himself outside of the house. He survived the gunshot wound to his chest.

Kang previously operated a taekwondo studio, Kang's Tae Kwon Do, near Port Washington and Brown Deer roads in the Village of Fox Point.

In Wisconsin, state laws require martial arts instructors who teach minors to be licensed through the state as Juvenile Martial Arts Instructors.

There is no record that Kang ever had a license, according to public license records.

An arrest warrant for Kang was issued on May 26.

OPERATIVES from the Bureau of Immigration-Fugitive Search Unit (BI-FSU) arrested a South Korean national wanted for escaping a jail in Leyte three years ago.

The suspect was identified by FSU chief Rendel Ryan Sy in his report as Gim Sihun, 31. He was arrested along Doña Julia Vargas Ave in Mandaluyong City on Thursday and is currently held at the BI’s holding facility where he shall remain prior to deportation.

Sy said the operation was conducted in coordination with the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) and the Philippine National Police Intelligence Group (PNP-IG).

The arrest, he added, concluded a three-year manhunt against Gim, following his escape from the custody of the Sub-Provincial jail in Brgy. Loyonsawang, Abuyog, Leyte in 2023.

It was learned that prior to his capture, Gim was listed among the top ten Korean escapees prioritized by the South Korean government.

Owing to this, an active warrant of arrest was issued against him by the Seoul Central District Court for fraud, in violation of the criminal act of Korea.

Gim is also the subject of a summary deportation order issued in 2020, classifying him as an undesirable alien due to his status as a fugitive.

A South Korean fugitive wanted by the International Criminal Police Organization and Korean authorities is facing deportation proceedings after being arrested by the Bureau of Immigration (BI), the agency said on Friday.

According to the BI, 34-year-old Seong Jeonghu was arrested during an entrapment operation last May 14 along 7th Avenue in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City, after authorities received information on his presence in the city. The BI said South Korean authorities requested assistance from the Philippine government after Seong left his home country.

Seong is the subject of an arrest warrant issued by the Busan District Court in South Korea for alleged violation of the country’s National Sports Promotion Act. An Interpol red notice was likewise issued against him in April 2020,” the BI said in a press release.

OPERATIVES from the Bureau of Immigration-fugitive search unit (BI) arrested a South Korean national wanted by authorities in his home country for his alleged role in a sophisticated telecommunications fraud scheme that victimized multiple individuals.

The fugitive was identified as 44-year-old Park Junhyeon, who was arrested by the FSU headed by Rendel Ryan Sy on the evening of June 28 along MacArthur Highway in Barangay Balibago, Angeles City, Pampanga.

Sy said the operation was conducted in coordination with South Korean authorities, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-National Capital Region (CIDG-NCR), and the Department of Justice.

가주 살인사건 2건의 핵심 용의자가 10년 도피 끝에 라오스에서 붙잡혀 미국으로 송환됐다.
 
오렌지카운티레지스터는 김명진(31.사진)씨가 최근 라오스에서 체포돼 지난주 미국으로 압송됐다고 12일 보도했다. 연방수사국(FBI)과 샌타클라라·오렌지카운티 검찰 등에 따르면 한국 국적자인 김씨는 2016년 샌호세 청부살인 사건과 2018년 웨스트민스터 총격 살인 사건의 핵심 용의자다.

 
김씨는 LA국제공항(LAX)을 통해 입국한 뒤 오렌지카운티를 거쳐 지난 11일 샌타클라라카운티 구치소로 이송됐다. 그는 샌호세 사건 재판을 먼저 받은 뒤 오렌지카운티로 넘겨져 웨스트민스터 사건 재판도 받을 예정이다.
 
샌호세 사건은 2016년 6월 발생했다. 검찰은 김씨가 특정 인물을 제거하기 위해 청부살인을 의뢰했으나 범인이 대상을 착각해 저스틴 트랜(당시 26세)을 살해한 것으로 보고 있다. 피해자는 사건과 무관한 인물이었다.
 
경찰은 2020년 공범 3명을 검거하고 김씨에 대해서도 살인·살인미수·살인공모 혐의로 체포영장을 발부했다. 공범 중 1명은 현재 주 교도소에 수감 중이다. 김씨는 또 2018년 9월 웨스트민스터의 한 CVS 주차장에서 금전 문제로 다투다 친구인 크리스토퍼 김(당시 26세)씨를 총으로 살해한 혐의도 받고 있다. 그는 피해자의 여자친구가 보는 앞에서 총 6발을 쏜 뒤 달아났다는 게 경찰의 설명이다.
