정씨는 지난해 6월 미시간대 대학원생 전용 기숙사인 멍거 기숙사에서 샤워 중이던 다른 여학생을 몰래 촬영하다 적발됐다. 피해 여성은 샤워를 마치고 나오던 중 천장 근처 작은 창문에 휴대전화가 테이프로 부착돼 있는 것을 발견했다. 피해 여성은 수상한 점을 인지한 뒤 공용 화장실로 향했고, 얼마 후 그곳에서 검은색 덕트테이프가 붙은 휴대전화와 접이식 발판을 들고 있던 정씨를 발견했다. 여성은 정씨에게 항의했고, 그의 휴대전화를 확인하는 과정에서 자신의 방 내부를 촬영한 것으로 보이는 여러 영상을 발견한 것으로 알려졌다. 정씨는 이와 별도로 아동 성착취물 소지 및 컴퓨터를 범죄에 이용한 혐의도 받고 있다. 아울러 미시간대에 재학했던 또 다른 학생 역시 유사한 혐의로 재판에 넘겨졌다. 경찰은 미시간대가 위치한 앤아버 지역의 한 IP 주소가 아동 성착취물에 접근하고 있다는 제보를 받고 수사에 착수했다.

Two former University of Michigan students have been charged in two separate cases related to sexual crimes.

James Hyunbin Jung, 26, was charged with first-degree home invasion and capturing an image of an unclothed person after he was caught filming another student in June 2025 at Munger Graduate Residence, 540 Thompson St., according to a swear-to hearing held before 14A District Magistrate Odetalla M. Odetalla. He is set to have a preliminary examination May 12, Washtenaw County court records show.

The woman had been exiting the shower when she saw a phone taped to a small window near the ceiling. She left her room and went into the communal bathroom, where she found Jung. Jung was holding a phone with black duct tape on it and a collapsible footstool, according to court records.

She confronted Jung and went through his phone, where she found multiple videos that looked into her apartment. He is also facing charges of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material and using a computer to commit a crime, which were added in September 2025. He was arraigned June of that year. Jung was pursuing a Master of Science in Data Science at the University of Michigan as recently as end of March but has since unenrolled from the school, a spokesperson for the university confirmed.

9일 유튜브와 인스타그램 등 주요 SNS 플랫폼에는 살인 및 살인미수 혐의로 구속된 장모(24) 씨의 이름과 학창 시절 모습, 최근 촬영된 프로필 사진 등이 포함된 게시물이 잇따라 올라오고 있다.

해당 게시글에는 확인되지 않은 장씨 가족의 직업 등 사적인 정보까지 포함된 상태다. 누리꾼들은 특히 전날 진행된 신상정보 공개 절차에서 장씨가 동의 의사를 밝히지 않았다는 점을 지적하며 비판적인 반응을 쏟아내고 있다.

광주경찰청은 전날 신상정보공개심의위원회를 소집해 장씨의 신상 정보를 대중에 알리기로 결정했다. 위원회는 ▲범행의 잔인성 ▲피해의 중대성 ▲증거의 충분성 ▲국민의 알 권리 및 공공의 이익 등 공개를 위한 법률적 요건을 충족한다고 판단했다.

경찰은 본인 동의가 없는 점을 고려해 유예 기간을 거친 뒤 정보를 공개할 예정이다. 장씨의 성명과 나이, 머그샷 등 상세 정보는 오는 14일 오전 9시부터 30일간 광주경찰청 홈페이지에 게시된다.

앞서 장씨는 어린이날이었던 지난 5일 0시 10분께 광주 광산구 소재 한 고등학교 인근 도로에서 귀가하던 17세 여고생 A양을 흉기로 수차례 찔러 살해했다. 또한 현장에서 비명을 듣고 달려온 남고생 B군까지 살해하려다 미수에 그친 혐의도 받는다.

범행 후 현장을 벗어났던 장씨는 사건 발생 약 11시간 만에 자신의 주거지 근처에서 경찰에 붙잡혔으며, 현재는 구속된 상태에서 경찰 조사를 받고 있다.

A 70-year-old repeat offender from Palisades Park was charged with trying to cash a $12.5 million U.S. Treasury check intended for a local company by pretending to be its president.

Sonny Lee "had no affiliation with the company but produced forged business documents for the purpose of establishing a business bank account in [its] name," Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.

He then intercepted the $12,515,828.30 treasury check, Musella said.

Records show Lee allegedly tried to cash the check last July.

He was already known to authorities before then. Lee was living in Old Tappan when the prosecutor's office charged him with swindling a 92-year-old woman from Greenwich, CT out of more than $1 million in 2013 by claiming it was for a Christian charity, 

He also was charged with an unidentified theft by deception from August 2023. That case was resolved last March, records show. 

A member of the Internal Revenue Service's Criminal Investigation field office in Newark Field Office alerted Musella's Financial Crimes Unit to the current case this past November.

A lengthy investigation led to charges against Lee of attempted money laundering, attempted theft by deception and impersonation of a corporate officer.

Lee -- who's listed in criminal records as a U.S. citizen -- was arrested yesterday (Tues., May 6th). He remained held in Bergen County's jail today pending a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.

Two people are dead and three have been injured after a shooting during a business meeting at a shopping center in Texas on Tuesday, May 5.

Police in Carrollton, Texas, responded to reports of a shooting just before 10 a.m. local time at the K Towne Plaza on Highway 121, Carrollton Police Chief Roberto Arredondo said in a press conference. The suspect was identified as Seung Han Ho, 69, Arredondo said.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found multiple people with gunshot wounds, Arredondo said.

Police found four victims at the shopping center, one was a confirmed deceased male, police said in a press release. One female and two males were transported to a nearby hospital and are in stable condition, police said.

During the investigation, police responded to a reported second shooting at a nearby apartment about an hour later. One deceased male was found inside the apartment. During their investigation, police discovered the second shooting was done by the same suspect.

The victims were meeting with the suspect for a “business purpose,” Arredondo said, adding that this was “not a random act of gunfire.” No other details on the meeting were provided.

"It was a known business relationship. We are still working through trying to identify his causes," Arredondo said.

Ho later confessed to shooting all five victims, police said in a press release. The suspect allegedly told police he "was angry at the victims due to financial disagreements related to their business dealings," police said.

로드아일랜드주 경찰국(RISP)은 프로비던스시 노스 메인 스트리트와 5가 인근의 ‘스마일러스 데이 스파’를 대상으로 약 한 달간 집중 수사를 벌여 관련자들을 검거했다고 지난 17일 밝혔다. 경찰은 지난해 10월 익명의 제보를 받고 수사에 착수한 것으로 전해졌다.
 
RISP가 이날 발표한 보도자료에 따르면, 검거된 용의자 5명은 모두 아시아계로, 이 가운데 뉴욕주 플러싱 출신의 용 김(67)씨가 한인으로 파악됐다. 김씨는 성매매 알선 및 공모, 공공방해 행위 지속 등 4개 중범죄 혐의를 받고 있다.
 
수사 과정에서 경찰은 해당 업소에서 금전을 대가로 성행위가 이뤄진 정황을 확인했다. 또한 업소 운영진이 공모해 성매매 조직을 운영하고, 이를 통해 발생한 수익을 세탁한 것으로 보고 있다. 이 가운데 김씨가 구체적으로 어떤 역할을 맡았는지에 대해서는 공개되지 않았다.

이와 함께 인신매매 피해자로 추정되는 여성 4명이 구조돼 주거 지원과 상담, 의료 서비스 등 보호 조치를 받은 것으로 나타났다. 경찰은 압수수색을 통해 현금 8만1579달러를 확보했으며, 추가 수사를 이어가고 있다.

The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office reports that Sungchul Lim, 27, was arrested in Sanford following a high-speed chase that started in Lake Mary.

According to the report obtained by Channel 9, Lim is believed to have been driving at 110 mph in a 65 mph zone and tried to avoid a Lake Mary Police officer. Lim is now facing charges of fleeing from law enforcement and speeding excessively.

Detectives say Lim claimed he did not hear the sirens or notice the emergency lights because the mirrors were not positioned correctly for him, and the music in the vehicle was too loud.

Lim was detained with a bond set at $5,500.

Moon Hayoung, 40, a South Korean fugitive, was arrested by the Philippine Bureau of Immigration (BI) on February 26 in Barangay Palamis, Alaminos City, Pangasinan. He is accused of masterminding a $840,000 voice phishing scam in South Korea and evading authorities by posing as a Filipino citizen.

BI officials said Moon operated the scheme starting January 2017, with members posing as representatives of a major Korean bank to defraud victims. Moon was identified as the ringleader, funding the operation, organizing the syndicate, and setting up facilities used for the scam.

Authorities discovered that Moon was carrying a fraudulent Philippine passport under the name Jonathan Martinez Park and reportedly owned several resort properties in Batangas and Pangasinan.

Moon is the subject of an Interpol Red Notice issued following an arrest warrant from the Suwon District Court in South Korea for fraud under Article 347(1) of Korea’s Criminal Act.

BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado warned that foreigners using false identities to evade arrest would face legal consequences. Moon will remain detained at the BI warden facility pending deportation proceedings.

The Bureau of Immigration announced on Sunday the arrest of an undocumented and overstaying Korean national in Angeles City.

The agency identified the suspect as Park Soonho, a 43, a South Korean national.

On March 18, 2016, BI operatives conducted a surveillance at the vicinity of Argentina St. in Barangay Pampang, where the subject was spotted outside his residence receiving a delivery.

When approached by authorities, Park voluntarily confirmed his identity.

The foreign national failed to present a valid passport and Alien Certificate of Registration Identity Card (ACR I-Card), rendering him undocumented.

The BI also confirmed that Park had exceeded in his authorized period of stay in the country.

The Korean was later transported to the BI Main Office for booking and documentation.

A Morton Grove man was charged with first-degree murder late Monday after allegedly fatally shooting his wife and shooting himself in a domestic disturbance Friday.

Morton Grove police say they found both husband and wife Howard and Chung Kim unresponsive, both suffering gun shot wounds at their home in the 5500 block of Madison Street near Gross Point Road, Lincoln Avenue and the Edens Expressway (I-94) Friday.

Mrs. Chung Kim, 71, was pronounced dead at the scene. Howard Kim, 74, was transported to Lutheran General Hospital for treatment, Morton Grove Police Cmdr. Paul Yaras said.

A court date has not been set as Mr. Kim is still recovering from his wounds, Yaras said.

Yaras said, as this was a domestic incident there is no danger to the community.

The investigation will be handled by the North regional Major Crimes Task Force (NORTAF), a group made of officers from 12 north suburban police departments including Niles, Morton Grove, Glenview, Wheeling and others that Niles Deputy Police Chief of Investigations Dennis McEnerney commands.

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Wednesday said it has arrested a South Korean fugitive accused of masterminding a $840,000 voice phishing scam and posing as a Filipino while hiding in the country.

BI said operatives from its Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) arrested 40-year-old Moon Hayoung on February 26 in Barangay Palamis, Alaminos City, Pangasinan.

FSU Chief Rendel Ryan Sy said the operation was conducted in coordination with Korean authorities, the Alaminos City Police Station, and intelligence units.

Moon is the subject of an Interpol Red Notice issued following an arrest warrant from the Suwon District Court in South Korea for fraud, in violation of Article 347(1) of Korea’s Criminal Act.

Authorities said Moon allegedly set up a voice phishing operation in January 2017, with members posing as representatives of a major Korean bank to dupe victims. 

The group reportedly defrauded victims of approximately $840,000.

BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado warned that foreigners who assume false identities to evade arrest will face legal consequences.

“Foreigners who use false identities to evade arrest will face the full force of the law. We will not allow anyone to abuse our hospitality, exploit our legal systems, or take advantage of the privileges extended to legitimate visitors,” Viado said.

The BI said Moon will remain detained at its warden facility pending deportation proceedings.

경찰에 따르면 지난 3월9일과 12일 이틀에 걸쳐 지역 경찰과 DEA 요원들이 사우스해켄색 46번 도로에 있는 김씨의 매장을 찾아 압수 수색을 한 것으로 알려졌다.

The owner of an unlicensed marijuana dispensary surrendered to police after it was shut down.

Police and undercover DEA agents on March 9 found illegal marihuana and THC products were openly being sold at Mr. Green Flower on Route 46. The shop described itself as a "full blown dispensary," according to municipal police.

Youngjae Kim, 52, of Fort Lee, surrendered to South Hackensack police on Wednesday and was charged with first-degree manufacturing, distributing, and/or dispensing marijuana in the amount of 25 pounds.

Police Chief James Donatello told Independent Online News, which was first to report the incident, that Kim was released pending a court hearing.

South Hackensack police said the DEA's New Jersey office has been cracking down on smoke shops that sell unregulated drugs. Because cannabis is still illegal under federal law a store's supply must come from a state-licensed vendor.

당시 총격전으로 루스 애비뉴 인근 병원과 학교, 시정부 건물도 모두 폐쇄됐다. 이번 사건으로 인한 부상자나 사망자는 없는 것으로 확인됐다.  
 
한편 두 사람은 현재 더글러스 카운티 구치소에 수감돼 있으며 보석금은 100만 달러로 책정됐다. 인정신문은 오는 23일 진행된다.

그와중에 2번이나 탈옥한 전력이 있다. 대한민국 법무부는 필리핀 당국에 범죄인의 국내송환을 강하게

요구하고 있는 것으로 알려졌다. 하지만 필리핀 현지에서의 재판이 여전히 진행 중인데다가 57~60년형을

확정받았다는 점으로 고려할 때 살아서 송환될 가능성보다 현지에서 사망할 가능성이 높다.

현지 감옥에서 호화생활을 누리며 자신이 입을 열면 검사 여럿이 옷을 벗는다는 식으로 건재함을 과시하고 있다.

현재 박왕열의 교사로 살인을 도와 저지른 김춘수는 한국 사법당국에 검거돼 징역 30년을

선고받고 복역하고 있다. 다만 김춘수는 피해자들의 목을 조르는 등 살인을 시도했지만 실패했고,

이에 박왕열이 피해자들을 끌어내려 총으로 직접 쏴 살해했기 때문에 30년형에 그쳤다.

따르면 박왕열은 현지에서 선고된 형의 집행이 모두 종료된 뒤에야 데려올 수 있습니다.

60년 이상의 시간이 지난 뒤에야 송환이 가능하다는 의미입니다. 

필리핀 정부가 임시 인도 조치에 합의해 준다면 송환의 길은 열리지만 지난 6년간 별다른 성과는 없다.

한국에서 유사 수신업체를 경영하다 수백명의 투자금을 돌려주지 않고 돈을 가지고 필리핀으로

도주한 3명의 사기범을 살해하고 이들의 범죄수익금(한화 약 138억원 가량의 돈)을 편취했다.

피해자들의 사체는 강가에 유기했다. 이후 한국과 필리핀의 공동 수사로 검거되었다.

텔레그램 닉네임 '바티칸 킹덤'이 연관되었기 때문이다.

바티칸 킹덤은 황하나와 같은 날 구속되었고, 박왕열이 수장으로 있는 대한민국의 거대 마약조직과 연관된 사건이다.

그것이 알고싶다의 보도에 따르면 박왕열을 제외한 국내에서 잡힌 바티칸 킹덤 및 그 이하 조직원들은

대부분이 20~30대에 거의 초범이었다. 사실상 박왕열이 절대 실세였으며, 바티칸 킹덤이라고 알려진 텔레그램 ID는

박왕열도 해당 ID로 로그인이 가능했었던, 조직의 반공용 ID에 가깝다.

라인이 타격을 받아도 다른 조직원 혹은 박왕열 측근들이 계속 살아남아 독버섯처럼 조직을 유지해오고 있다는 의혹이다.
