이 살인 사건은 2025년 1월 17일 오전 10시 30분경 프놈펜 벙깽꽁(BKK) 1코뮌에 위치한 홈 시크 호텔(Home Chic Hotel) 282번 도로에서 한 한국 남성이 프놈펜의 한 호텔에서 자신의 젊은 캄보디아인 여자친구를 질식시켜 살해한 혐의로 체포되었다.

용의자를 껀달(Kandal) 주 타크마오(Takhmao) 시 프렉 호(Prek Ho) 코뮌에 거주하는 43세의 한국인 사업가 이태식(Lee Tai Sik)으로, 피해자를 프놈펜 프렉프노브(Prek Pnov) 구에 거주하며 온라인 상품을 판매하던 24세의 킴 픽달리스(Khim Pichdalis)로 확인했다.

피셋 중령은 경찰 조사에 따르면, CCTV 영상은 2025년 1월 17일 오전 3시경 용의자와 피해자가 호텔 2층 방에 함께 체크인한 모습을 보여주었다고 밝혔다. 오전 11시경 용의자는 방에서 혼자 나와 호텔을 떠난 것으로 나타났다. 오전 11시 30분경, 호텔 청소원이 방을 청소하기 위해 들어갔다가 침대 밑에서 피해자의 시신을 발견했다.

“청소원은 침대 밑을 본 후 피해자의 시신을 발견하고 놀라서 호텔 관리자에게 알렸습니다. 이후 관리자는 사건을 당국에 신고했습니다,”라고 피셋 중령은 말했다.

그는 경찰이 범죄 현장을 조사하는 과정에서 피해자가 용의자에 의해 베개로 질식사한 것으로 밝혀졌으며, 현장에서 사용된 콘돔 두 개를 발견했다고 덧붙였다.

경찰은 호텔의 CCTV 영상을 바탕으로 프놈펜 시 경찰과 내무부 형사국 경찰이 협력하여 토요일 저녁 껀달 주 타크마오 시 프렉 호 코뮌에서 용의자를 체포했다고 밝혔다.





Lt Col Piseth said that according to the police investigation, CCTV footage revealed that about 3 am on January 17, 2025, the suspect and victim checked in to a room on the second floor of the hotel. At about 11 am, the suspect left the room alone and walked out of the hotel.

At about 11:30 am, a hotel cleaner entered the room to prepare it for incoming guests.

“However, when she looked under the bed, she discovered the victim’s body under the bed,” Lt Col Piseth said.

“The cleaner ran downstairs to alert hotel management and the manager reported the incident to the authorities,” he said.

He noted that police officers examining the crime scene discovered that the victim had been suffocated by the suspect using a pillow. Police also found two used condoms in the room.

He said that based on the hotel’s CCTV, the suspect was later arrested by the Phnom Penh Municipal Police cooperating with police from the Penal Department at the Ministry of Interior in Prek Ho commune, Kandal province’s Takhmao city, on the evening of Saturday.
