토론토에서 30대 한인남성은 아파트 임대 사기 행각을 벌이고 달아나 경찰이 지명수배를 했다.
5일 토론토경찰에 따르면 용의자는 김성진(37/사진)씨로 지난 4월 27일부터 5월2일 사이 쉐퍼드 에비뉴- 영 스트릿 소재 한 아파트를 임대한다고 온라인에 광고를 내고 돈을 챙겼다.
경찰은 “ 김씨는 이 아파트를 임대할 권한이 없었다”며 “첫달과 마지막달 렌트비를 요구해 돈을 갈취했다”고 밝혔다. 경찰은 “피해자들이 20여명에 달하며 추가 피해자들이 더 있을 것으로 추정하고 있다”고 덧붙였다.
“김씨는 광고를 보고 찾아온 입주 희망자에게 아파트를 보여준뒤 계약금 명목으로 돈을 요구했다”며 “전국에 지명 수배령을 내렸지만 이미 캐나다를 출국한 것으로 보인다”고 전했다.



Between April 27 and May 2, 20 separate people reported frauds to police concerning the rental of a room at 30 Greenfield Ave., near Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue.

Investigators said people would respond to an ad on a Korean social media app, Casmo, where some of them would meet the suspect and be offered the opportunity to see the room.

The suspect mentioned to other victims that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they would not be able to see the unit.

Police allege first and last month’s rent were e-transferred to the suspect, who didn’t have the right to rent the room.

Sungjin Kim, 37, of Toronto, is wanted for multiple counts of fraud in relation to these incidents. However, investigators have information he may no longer be in the country.
